The Area

La Vallée des Vignes is situated amidst sunflowers and vineyards in the small village of Concourson sur Layon, just 3km from Doué la Fontaine. The beautiful river Layon flows through Concourson and along the back of the campsite. A 2 minute walk down a leafy lane will bring you into the village where you will find the salle des fêtes, boulangerie, bar-tabac, church, Mairie and 21 wine growers.

The “Rose” town of Doué la Fontaine is just a 3 minute drive away. Doué offers an extensive range of supermarkets, banks, boutiques and restaurants. The town also boasts a number of tourist attractions, namely the famous “Zoo de Doué”, Les Chemins de la Rose, Troglodytes and museums. Doué provides an opportunity to indulge in a wide choice of French cuisine, at one of it’s many restaurants. A market is held every Monday morning in the town square allowing you to have a real taste of life in this wonderful region of France.

The historic chateau towns of Saumur and Montreuil Bellay are just a 15 minute car journey away. Both of these towns, Saumur especially present both history and beautiful architecture and are situated along the banks of a river. Why not take a picnic or a boat trip along the Loire river? Or canoe from Montreuil Bellay? Perhaps you could pick up that special souvenir from one of the numerous flea markets. Saumur is home to the world famous “Cadre Noir”, a special division of the French cavalry. One can often see these magnificent horses in training both in and around Saumur.
